Harbor High will be hosting a Start Smart safe driving presentation on Wednesday, March 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the MPR. Start Smart is aimed at helping newly licensed- or soon to be licensed- teenage drivers (15-19) become more aware of the responsibilities that accompany the privilege of being a licensed California driver. A local California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer will speak directly to students through candid conversations, discussing topics such as collision avoidance techniques along with collision causing elements such as excessive speed, DUI, and distracted driving.
Students with unexcused absences that would otherwise be cleared through Saturday School can clear up a full-day absence or three unexcused periods by attending this event. In addition, some insurance companies might offer discounts to students that attend this event (families should contact individual insurance companies for details) .
Please contact Assistant Principal Lindsay Schubert for questions.
