Dear IB students and families,
Students currently enrolled in IB SL and/or their second year of IB HL courses have the option of taking IB exams this upcoming May. Students will inform us on November 6 regarding their interest in registering for May 2025 IB exams to obtain the corresponding scores in July 2025.
To be eligible, students must have at least a C- in their IB classes and also meet some basic requirements that show they are on-track, ready, and engaged to do well on the IB exams and in-school IB assessments (“IA” = internal assessment.) If a student wants to test and meets the listed requirements, Harbor High will register them and cover the costs for the IB exams. The deadline to meet these requirements is November 8, 2024. The requirements are linked here, attached below, and posted on our website.
Beyond completing exams, to earn IB scores students must complete all the assessments that IB requires. After exams are taken, scores are available in July. Students can earn university credits if they score above a 4 or 5, depending on the college and the IB courses.
I encourage you to ask your student how taking IB exams and earning scores of 4 or 5 or more may impact their college transcript; they should be able to explain what it means for them if they plan to register for exams. Los estudiantes actualmente inscritos en IB SL y/o en su segundo año de cursos IB HL tienen la opción de tomar los exámenes IB el próximo mes de mayo. Los estudiantes nos informarán el 6 de noviembre sobre su interés en inscribirse a los exámenes IB de mayo de 2025 para obtener los puntajes correspondientes en julio de 2025.
